Illinois surpasses 800K COVID-19 cases with 7,910 reported Tuesday

(HOI) — With 7,910 new COVID-19 cases reported in Illinois on Tuesday, the state has now surpassed 800,000 cases.

The latest report from the Illinois Department of Public Health puts the total number of cases at 804,174.

An additional 145 deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported Tuesday, bringing the death toll in Illinois to 13,487.

The seven-day test positivity rate is being reported at 11.7%. Region 2, which includes the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal areas is reporting a positivity rate of 13.6%.

As of Monday night, 5,199 individuals in Illinois were reported to be hospitalized with COVID-19, with 1,071 of those in the ICU and 626 on ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, labs reported 95,825 tests for the virus, brining that total to 11,274,608.
