President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team tapped federal agency review teams today that included a handful of Illinois participants.
Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity Assistant Director Michael Negron was tapped for the Department of Defense review team; University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy economist Damon Jones was selected for the Council of Economic Advisers review team; and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign agricultural policy specialist Jonathan Coppess was picked for the Department of Agriculture review team.
The review teams are designed to help the presumptive Biden Administration hit the ground running once the president-elect begins his term in January, the transition team said in a statement today. The members of the teams connect with former federal employees, experts in the field and interest groups to prepare for taking leadership of the federal agencies.
“These teams are composed of highly experienced and talented professionals with deep backgrounds in crucial policy areas across the federal government,” the Biden team said in a statement today. “The teams have been crafted to ensure they not only reflect the values and priorities of the incoming administration, but reflect the diversity of perspectives crucial for addressing America’s most urgent and complex challenges.
