U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, announced her support for two Will County-area candidates for state and local office.
Last week, the congresswoman endorsed Democrat Meg Loughran Cappel in her race for the 49th Illinois Senate District and state Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, in her race for Will County executive, according to a news release.
Through her Farm Team Political Action Committee, Underwood has endorsed about 50 candidates for state and local office across the 14th Illinois Congressional District. The PAC aims to recruit, train and financially support candidates in DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.
Underwood launched the PAC in 2019 to support candidates in her district. Underwood also is running for reelection to her own seat.
Cappel is a Joliet special education teacher and Joliet Township High School District 204 board member running against Republican Tom McCullagh for the Illinois Senate seat.
Bertino-Tarrant decided not to run for her seat representing the 49th Senate District in order to run for Will County executive. She faces Republican Nick Ficarello in the general election.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
