I am curious about who might consider voting for U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, for Congress on Nov. 3. Certainly no one who has any sort of medical pre-existing condition should vote for him. Kinzinger has voted dozens of times to bar those with pre-existing conditions from being assured access to medical insurance.
Certainly no one who has a family member or friend who relies on Medicaid for nursing home or extended care should vote for him. Kinzinger has voted numerous times to drastically reduce the number of qualifying Medicaid recipients in the 16th Congressional District.
Certainly, voters who expect their representatives to meet them in free, open community events should not vote for him. During the 2018 election cycle, Rep. Kinzinger failed to appear at numerous local events, including forums with the NIU student government, the League of Women Voters, a meet-and-greet at the Meadows in Franklin Grove, as well as many other nonpartisan opportunities. On the rare occasions he appears publicly in person, he only answers questions that have been pre-written and approved by his staff.
The voters of the 16th Congressional District deserve a congressperson who will meet with them, answer their questions, respond to their needs, protect their benefits and care about them. On Aug. 5, request your absentee ballot and vote for Dani Brzozowski for Congress. It will be refreshing to have a responsive resident of the 16th Congressional District speaking for us in the U.S. House of Representatives.
