U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville) has launched the 14th District Senior Spotlight, which is a program that honors high school seniors who aren’t able to participate in a traditional graduation ceremony because of the pandemic, according to a news release.

The Senior Spotlight is an opportunity for members of the 14th District to celebrate the hard work and dedication of northern Illinois graduating seniors. Throughout May, Underwood invites family and friends of 14th District students to nominate graduating seniors by completing this form.

On May 8, Underwood recognized the first group of graduating students from the community. The announcement can be viewed on Underwood’s Facebook page.

“The coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed the last semester of high school for graduating seniors. Still, through it all, our students continue to push forward—and they deserve to be celebrated,” Underwood stated in the news release. “It is my honor to shine a light on some of the seniors in our community who will be graduating high school this month. I encourage members of our community to join me in celebration and nominate students to be featured.”
