High school seniors in our listening area have been taking part in an unprecedented graduation experience amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. One Minooka citizen called in to WCSJ this week to discuss what she has done to help these seniors get the recognition they deserve.

So many of the traditional parts of high school graduation: the ceremony, the parties with friends and family, have been altered or completely cancelled due to the pandemic. That’s why Jen Kopstain formed the Facebook group "Adopt a Minooka Community High School Senior."

Kopstain said parents will then communicate privately with the three volunteers to arrange delivery of a card or gift basket; something to remind the seniors that their community cares and is thinking about them.

Kopstain said she hopes every Minooka High School Senior will be fully adopted by volunteers. Another page for Minooka and Channahon 8th graders is also available on Facebook.
