State officials say they dropped Confederate Railroad from the DuQuoin State Fair because of a policy that state resources will not be used to promote symbols of racism.
A spokesperson for Governor JB Pritzker tells Capitol Fax that the band’s use of the Confederate battle flag constitutes such a use, and that’s why the band was dropped. More Downstate lawmakers are complaining about the decision and asking why rapper Snoop Dogg is still allowed to play at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, when he has an album that depicts a cadaver with a toe tag that reads “Trump.”
The Pritzker administration calls that “political satire.”
