Governor-elect Pritzker to visit Effingham on Sunday

Governor-elect JB Pritzker and Lieutenant Governor-elect Juliana Stratton plan a stop in Effingham on Sunday morning as part of a statewide tour to thank voters and volunteers for their support during last month’s election.

They are scheduled to be at Joe Sippers Café at 114 South 4th St. at 10 a.m. Sunday, according to Pritzker’s press office.

The three-day tour, which begins on Saturday, includes 10 thank you events across northern, central, and southern Illinois.

Besides Effingham, there will be stops in Peoria, Decatur, Champaign, West Frankfort, Caseyville, Springfield, Galesburg, Rock Island, and Rockford.

Pritzker, a Democrat, collected just 27.9 percent of the vote in Effingham County on Nov. 6. The incumbent Republican, Bruce Rauner, garnered about 62 percent of the local tally.

Statewide, however, Pritzker won about 52 percent of the vote. Rauner collected about 39 percent.
