Senator honored for school funding work
The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools has given Sen. Andy Manar its Friend of Education Award for his work in bringing a new school funding formula to Illinois.
Manar, D-Bunker Hill, accepted the award during the organization’s meeting in Springfield.
He was instrumental in legislation that created a new evidence-based funding formula. The funding change was approved in 2017 after years of discussion.
The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools represents the leaders of the state’s Regional Offices of Education and Intermediate Service Centers.
