A ballroom at Northbrook’s Crowne Plaza Hotel was packed Sept. 6 with current and former Democratic state legislators, county commissioners, municipal and township leaders and other politicos all wishing State Rep. Elaine Nekritz (D-57th) well as she prepares for retirement.
In June, Nekritz announced she would be stepping down before the 2018 election after a 15-year career in the state house. Nekritz said she wanted to see township committeemen appoint her successor before she left office.
