CHICAGO (WLS) — The race to replace retiring Sen. Dick Durbin has the candidates who are vying to replace him crisscrossing the state, trying to win over as many undecided voters as possible.

ABC7 caught up with the two frontrunners on Thursday as they work to rally supporters to the polls.

There are only five days left until Election Day, which means that time is quickly running out for voters to make their selections and cast their ballots. In the Senate race, the Democratic primary candidates know they need to work to win every last vote.

Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton greeted seniors at a residence on the city’s South Side on Thursday morning as part of multi-stop day of canvassing for votes.

"I’m getting to every corner of the state, and certainly, this is an area where we’re visiting with some of our older Illinoisans who I want to fight for when I get to Washington, D.C.," Stratton said.

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi held a "get out the vote" rally with members from numerous labor unions who are backing him in this election.

"Five days out, 10 days if you don’t sleep. And we’re not sleeping a lot right now. I feel good, but you know, we have a lot of work to do. We got to meet every voter, ask for their support, and that’s what I intend to do," Krishnamoorthi said.

Meanwhile, crypto-backed political action committees have now spent $10 million attacking Stratton, making her one of crypto’s most targeted candidates nationwide this election cycle.

"Well, we see, I think, now four MAGA-aligned crypto Super PACs that are coming against me with attack ads, and they’re, you know, supporting Congressman Krishnamoorthi and boosting Congresswoman Robin Kelly, as well," Stratton said.

"I don’t have any coordination or control over them. I’m running my own race, but I’ve demonstrated independence over the years, and I would do everything I can to kind of uphold the best interests of Illinoisans," Krishnamoorthi said.

Krishnamoorthi himself is under attack by a PAC that has received millions in support from Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. The governor was with Stratton at two events on Thursday.

Voters have to filter through all the political noise in these final days as they weigh the candidates and the outside influences.

Stratton’s most recent poll showed that she was holding a slight lead. Krishnamoorthi countered with his own poll, suggesting he was in front. But they both know that the only one that matters is the voters’ poll on Election Day.
