The RoundTable’s video interviews with the two Democrats competing for Evanston’s state senate seat in the March 17 primary are now live.
These videos feature Patrick Hanley of Winnetka and Rachel Ruttenberg of Evanston, two local Democratic leaders who hope to fill the 9th Senate District seat, which is left open by incumbent Laura Fine’s decision to run for Congress. They are viewable on the RoundTable’s YouTube channel, and have been added to Hanley and Ruttenberg’s RoundTable profile pages, which can be accessed via the 2026 elections landing page.
Senior reporter Alex Harrison interviewed both candidates in person, asking a series of shared questions on topics such as their approach as a new member of the General Assembly and major issues facing the state government. Both interviews were filmed by videographer Noah Sheldon in his studio at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St., and were edited for clarity and length.
