Illinois (KWQC) – The Illinois Secretary of State announced major funding for libraries in underserved and rural communities.

The number of libraries eligible for the funding jumped from 17 to 108 and will reach up to 700,000 residents including some in the Quad Cities area.

Libraries in the following towns will receive the new funding

• Freeport
• Abington
• Kewanee
• Rock Falls

The money will help update technology and expand learning materials.
