It took eight years to become a reality, but Alton and the state of Illinois are proud to show-off the new Sunnybrook Housing Development on Washington Avenue.

Governor J.B. Pritzker and numerous dignitaries cut the ribbon on the 40 single home complex, Wednesday afternoon. Majority owner Ed Hightower presided over the ceremony and said it’s truly a “game-changer” for Alton.

fter the ceremony, Hightower explained to The Big Z why his faith never wavered in the project, despite several roadblocks.

Speaking of the Illinois Housing Development Authority… its executive director Kristin Faust also attended the opening ceremony:
