SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias will host a virtual town hall meeting as part of his Driving Change campaign, focusing on the issue of skyrocketing auto insurance rates.
This will be the eighth in a series of town halls aimed at gathering input from Springfield residents.
Giannoulias is encouraging locals to share their experiences with what he describes as "unfair and discriminatory ratemaking practices" by auto insurance companies.
The campaign seeks to prevent insurers from using socio-economic data, such as credit scores, zip codes, and age, to impose higher rates on Illinoisans.
The feedback collected from these meetings will help shape potential legislation for the General Assembly’s consideration.
The meeting will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. Residents are asked to RSVP online and confirm attendance by emailing mwalczyk@ilsos.gov.
