The far-right Illinois representative is continuing her attacks on the trans community.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (D-Oakland) is calling on the Trump administration to cut funding for an Illinois school district over its policies for transgender students.

Miller called for all federal funding to be stripped from Deerfield School District 109 in the northern suburbs of Chicago for violating the administration’s  “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order.

The order calls for funding to be taken from school districts that allow trans girls and women to participate in girls’ sports.

Miller was responding to a federal complaint filed against the school district for violating the executive order.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Nicole Georgas told district’s school board members at a meeting last week that officials at Shepard Middle School were “allowing biological males to access girls’ locker rooms.”

In a statement sent to the newspaper, the district said that no student is required to change in front of others in the locker room and added that the school’s policies align with state law.

“No student is required to change into a gym uniform for physical education class in front of others in locker rooms. All students in the middle schools have multiple options to change in a private location if they wish,” the statement reads.

Illinois state law protects access to facilities and activities for trans students. Illinois High School Association policy allows trans students to participate in school sports for their gender.

The Sun-Times also reported that federal civil rights complaints have been filed against Chicago Public Schools and the state board of education over their trans policies.

“Forcing middle school girls to undress in front of a biological male is not just perverted—it’s an egregious violation of their privacy and President Trump’s executive order to protect girls in female-only spaces.” Miller said in a statement. “I urge President Trump to immediately pull all federal funding going towards this school district.”

Deerfield is about 200 miles from Miller’s district at its closest point.

Miller has long been the most vocal anti-LGBTQ+ voice, especially against trans people, in the Illinois congressional delegation. Just last month, she misgendered U.S. Rep. Sarah McBride (D-Del.), the country’s first out trans representative.
