SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- Today there are more electric vehicles on the road than ever before – but clean energy advocates say more needs to be done to reduce pollution output from everyday cars and trucks.
The Illinois Pollution Control Board met with the EPA on Monday in Springfield to urge stronger standards for vehicles.
Health experts and energy advocates highlighted the benefits of electric vehicles and discussed the health risks associated with air pollution caused by conventional vehicles.
The IPCB says cleaner car and truck pollution standards have been adopted by more than a dozen other states.
