The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is a product of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which fights hatred and intolerance on a global level.
It has traveled the state in recent years, providing anti-hate and tolerance education to children and communities, and is so popular that its school visits are booked into 2025.
The bus-based museum will be at the state fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Saturdays, just south of the Lincoln Stage at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, 801 E. Sangamon Ave. in Springfield.
Among the museum’s offerings are:
• A 9-minute video of civil rights and American civil rights heroes;
• A short film on the life of Anne Frank, along with a discussion on the Holocaust, anti-Semitism and resistance; and
• A video on the power of ordinary people as upstanders or bystanders during the Holocaust.
The Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology’s Magical Innovation and STEAM Tour will be based in the Governor’s Tent at Brian Raney Avenue and Main Street.
“Our goal is to inspire and educate attendees about the latest advancements in STEAM,” said Sanjay Gupta, the department’s acting secretary. “Get ready to be dazzled by the magic of innovation.”
