Gov. JB Pritzker signed a bill on Friday that will give victims of doxing the right to sue individuals who commit such a crime.
Doxing is the act of sharing an individual’s personal information without that person’s consent and with the intent to cause harm to the individual whose personal information is shared.
Under the new law, the victim will be able to recover damages and any other appropriate relief, including attorney’s fees. The measure was sponsored by Sen. Julie Morrison, D – Deerfield.
