Zalewski from 2017 until last winter chaired the state’s House Revenue & Finance Committee. He was the primary sponsor of the state’s sports wagering law, of Edge payroll credits, tax credits for electric vehicle makers and suppliers, and the measure that requires most internet purchases to be subject to the same sales tax as purchases at brick-and-mortar stores.

“Serving in the House was the honor of a lifetime, and I’m excited to begin this new chapter,” Zalewski said in a statement.

“Mike is a natural fit to lead this group and formalize our prior lobbying efforts to serve our Illinois client,” said Cezar Freoelich, chairman of Taft’s Chicago office.
