Illinoisians are demanding reform within the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Hundreds of empty children’s shoes lined part of the Statehouse Thursday to bring awareness to the Illinois children who died despite involvement with DCFS. The group behind the setup is called Roar for AJ. It’s a group created after the tragic death of 5-year-old AJ Freund, a child who died while DCFS was involved in his case.
