Illinois lawmakers are pushing to eliminate the subminimum wages in the restaurant industry in Illinois. The One Fair Wage Act is a response to the staffing crisis many restaurant owners are seeing. The act looks to give workers a fair wage on top of the tips they receive. According to the bill sponsors, employers who raised wages for tipped workers in order to recruit staff have helped them recover.
