The city of Springfield is poised to approve a $75,000 lobbying contract to get another set of eyes and ears at the Capitol. From GR Consulting, Larry Luster (pictured, left) says there are many answers to the question – why should we pay someone to be a liaison to the statehouse?
“If you are in an association, you may bring on some individual lobbyists to address specific things or bring in certain funding or are privy to certain grants that come up ,” Luster tells WTAX News. “Springfield, I think, is one of the only cities in Illinois with its own power plant, so, again, that kind of speaks to the specificities Springfield has as opposed to other municipalities.”
Luster’s run the Black Caucus Foundation and worked for politicians and lawmakers here for more than ten years. His partner is former State Rep. Art Turner (pictured, right).
