In an interview, Hynes, 53, said he will not be working on state business, but he does expect to be active with other governmental and corporate clients. The work could include everything from underwriting debt offerings to facilitating corporate restructurings and mergers and acquisitions.
“I’m excited to join a great firm and help them enrich and grow their presence in the Midwest,” said Hynes.
With Pritzker, Hynes had been a principal official in dealing with state budget issues, economic development and other subjects. He announced he was stepping down this summer.
Hynes, a former Illinois comptroller and candidate for the U.S. Senate and governor, has moved back and forth between the public and private sectors in recent years. He comes from a legendary Southwest Side political clan headed by the late Tom Hynes, a former president of the Illinois Senate and Cook County assessor.
