Cannabis tax funds to be used to rehabilitate convicts in Springfield

Over $1. 5 million in recreational cannabis tax revenue flowed into Springfield non-profits in January. Now leaders at the brand new East Springfield Community Center Commission say plans are falling into place to use that money for good. The community center received over $800,000 directly. Chief Executive Officer Dameon Johnson says the plan is to transition 30 formerly incarcerated people into more stable lifestyles through educational and job training support.
