A bill (HB 3438) on the verge of becoming law would dedicate new resources for undocumented students at all public colleges and universities throughout the state. The legislation would establish a liaison position on every public campus specifically for undocumented students. With Illinois having a quarter of the nation’s undocumented student population, proponents say it’s a much-needed change. 80 institutions in the state already have a similar outreach position.
