The Department of Children and Family Services is rebuilding after a scathing audit report found failures in its care for LGBTQI+ youth. LGBTQI+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex. As we near the end of pride month, a new Chief of LGBTQI+ Services is settling in. It’s a new position at DCFS filled by a familiar face. Marla Courts has been with the agency for over a decade.
