Betting on Illinois college sports team could soon be legal within the state. When the original gaming bill was passed in 2019, college sports betting was taken out to appease Illinois universities. “I think this should have been part of the original bill,” Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, said. Now, two years later, sponsors of the bill, including Caroll and Rep. Michael Zalewski, D-Riverside, are revisiting the idea. “This rule is becoming quite antiquated,” Zalewski said.
