ROCKFORD (WREX)-Governor JB Pritzker stopped by Ellis Elementary today to discuss the federal funding headed to Rockford school district.
Governor Pritzker made the announcement last week that around 220 million dollars is coming from the federal government, and going to Rockford Public Schools.
The education system was especially hit hard by the pandemic, according to Governor Pritzker.
"Teachers worked tirelessly to adapt to remote learning, parents gave their all to guide their children through challenges they never saw coming and of course our kids watched their day-to-day routines get usurped by a pandemic," said Governor Pritzker.
A percentage of the funding will go towards addressing learning loss from this past year.
