Democrat Michelle Fadeley announced that she received an endorsement from state Sen. Michael Hastings in her race for the 37th Illinois House District.

The Senate district for Hastings’s, D-Tinley Park, includes the 37th House District.

"Senator Hastings is not only my State Senator, but is also the State Senator for the entire 37th District," Fadeley posted in a Facebook announcement. "I am honored to have his endorsement and I look forward to working together for the betterment of our neighbors and our community."

Fadeley is running against Republican Tim Ozinga for the seat in the Illinois House of Representatives. They’re both running to succeed State Rep. Margo McDermed, R-Mokena, who announced last year she would not be running for reelection to the seat she has held since 2014.

Fadeley works as a global marketing manager for an employee-owned business in the personal and professional industry. In 2016, she co-founded ERA Illinois, which successfully pushed for the adoption of the Equal Rights Amendment by the state.

The 37th Illinois House District includes parts of Joliet, New Lenox, Mokena, Frankfort, Tinley Park, Homer Glen, Lockport and Orland Park.

The general election is Nov. 3.
