MOKENA, IL — State Sen. Michael Hastings will hold a virtual town hall on Facebook at 4 p.m. Aug. 7. According to Hastings’ Facebook page, Hastings and medical experts will discuss tactics, tips and protocols schools can implement for the safe return of students.

Other topics discussed will include viral load and transmission capabilities of children under and over the age of 10. Participants will also be able to ask questions.

According to Hastings’ Facebook page, he will be joined by Dr. Daniel Johnson, chief, section of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Chicago medical center and Dr. David Soglin, chief medical officer at La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

Hastings is state senator for the 19th district, which includes Country Club Hills, Frankfort, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homer Glen, Joliet, Lockport, Matteson, Markham, Mokena, New Lenox, Orland Park, Tinley Park, University Park, Flossmoor, Frankfort Square, Homewood, Oak Forest, Olympia Fields, Orland Hills, Park Forest and Richton Park.
