Democratic congressional candidate Dani Brzozowski, of La Salle, became the latest politician to call for Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s resignation.
The Democratic nominee who is running against Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, in November for the 16th District seat said she is committed to fighting against and rooting out corruption at every level of government, regardless of which political party the corruption comes from.
“The people of Illinois deserve better than the corrupt leaders who have violated the trust of the people they are supposed to serve. From Dan Walker to George Ryan to Rod Blagojevich, the terrible, long history of corruption in our state government is shameful and bipartisan.” Brzozowski said in a press statement. “If the allegations are true, Speaker Madigan must resign.”
Madigan was implicated in a criminal bribery investigation involving ComEd. Madigan and allies are alleged to have used their position of power to pressure ComEd into offering jobs and contracts for Madigan’s associates.
Kinzinger released a joint statement Friday through the Illinois Republican delegation stating: "The people of Illinois deserve better than Illinois Democrats’ embrassing, systematic corruption."
