Springfield, IL – The Democratic Party of Illinois met in Springfield Wednesday afternoon to plan for the November election.

DPI members selected 10 individuals for the Democratic National Committee serving the next four years. The new DNC members will start their term following the end of the August virtual convention. They also chose 20 electors to represent Illinois for the General Election. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin also asked the party to endorse Sen. Tammy Duckworth for Vice President.

Democratic Party Chairman Mike Madigan says this election is critical for everyone.

"We’ve been adrift for four years, moving from one crisis to another," Madigan said. "There’s no thoughtful, intelligent leadership coming out of the White House. It’s an extremely critical election for the entire country."

Members of the party will participate in the virtual Democratic National Convention where former Vice President Joe Biden will accept the party’s nomination for President.

The General Election will be held on November 3.
