The Madison County Democratic Party has a new leader. East Alton native and Edwardsville resident Randy Harris has been named party chairman, taking over for outgoing chair Mark Von Nida. The party says it is opting for youth and diversity with the naming of its new leadership team.

Harris tells The Big Z he hopes the party can help clean up county government.

Harris currently serves as the Director of the Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust of the Laborers’ International Union of North America Midwest Region. The Madison County Democratic Party’s leadership team includes County Board member Kristen Novacich-Koberna as 1st Vice-Chairwoman, Abe Lee Barham as 2nd Vice Chairman, Jason Fernandez as Recording-Secretary, Scott Rose as Treasurer, with Michael ‘Doc’ Holiday and Rick Fancher serving as Sergeant-At-Arms while Tonya Genovese will serve as Party Counsel.
