A local legislator is working on a bill to make EpiPens more affordable.

The office of State Senator Patrick Joyce announced last week that he is co-sponsoring a measure that expands coverage of epinephrine, a vital medicine for people with severe allergic reactions.

Senate Bill 2557 requires insurers to expand coverage for people who require EpiPens regardless of age. In a statement, Joyce said that the bill is a vital step towards addressing Illinois’ public health crisis.
