Local Democrat State Senator Rachelle Crowe of Glen Carbon has been picked to head up the Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee. Crowe takes over from her position as vice-chair and is the first woman to lead the committee.
Crowe says she excited for the opportunity and plans to work toward accountability and fairness in the Illinois court system. Crowe was elected to the Illinois Senate on 2018, succeeding Senator Bill Haine of Alton when he retired and did not run for reelection. She is a native of Wood River, graduate of Roxana High School, Lewis and Clark Community College and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law and was a one-time prosecutor in the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
