Interested candidates should be prepared to meet and discuss their credentials with the Committee in an open forum on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N Halsted St., in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre. Community members can attend and hear the candidates present their credentials. Following the open forum, the Committee will deliberate in executive session before announcing their decision about the appointment to the 12th District House seat.

Tunney is the chair of the Committee voting to appoint a replacement. The Committee members vote by weighted vote, according to the number of voters in each ward’s 2018 General Election. Tunney has 45.09 percent of the vote, with others being Sean Tenner ( 28.56 percent ), Lucy Moog ( 17.31 percent ), Tim Egan ( 7.73 percent ) and Walter Burnett ( 1.26 percent ).
