St. Charles human resources director appointed to state labor relations board

ST. CHARLES – St. Charles Human Resources Director Jennifer McMahon has been appointed to a two-year term as the director-at-large and chair of the Legislative Advocacy Committee for the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association.

As the director-at-large and chair, McMahon will help research and influence state and federal labor laws. The committee also is involved in filing state and federal briefs that impact public sector issues. “It is our pleasure to extend our warmest congratulations to Jennifer on her appointment,” St. Charles City Administrator Mark Koenen said in a news release from the city of St. Charles. “IPELRA has made an excellent choice in selecting Jennifer based on her exceptional leadership and experience. Jennifer exemplifies the St. Charles public servant who surpasses ordinary commitment to the betterment of our community and state.”

McMahon came to the city of St. Charles as the director of human resources in 2016. Prior to that, she was the assistant city administrator for Warrenville. McMahon holds a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from DePaul University and a master’s degree in urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. IPELRA is an association with a goal to provide exceptional professional development and greater understanding in the field of labor and employee relations for public sector employers, according to the release. It was founded on its four pillars: premier training, membership resources, interactive networking and legislative insight, the release stated.
