Sangamon County Democratic Chair Doris Turner, who also represents Ward 3 on the Springfield City Council, let it be known recently she was running to be a Democrat National Committee delegate for U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris. Then, Harris dropped out of the race for president.

“I realize that she was not the front-runner,” Turner said. “However, I was surprised by her abrupt departure from the race. I had just received email correspondence from the campaign hours before the announcement.”

“As I said before,” Turner added, “I will wholeheartedly support the eventual Democratic nominee.”
