Adults in Illinois will no longer be allowed to smoke in their own cars if anyone under 18 is in the vehicle.

Governor JB Pritzker has signed legislation that bans smoking in a car with a minor present. The American Lung Association says the law will spare children from the effects of secondhand smoke… including asthma and ear infections.

The new law takes effect January 1^st.
