State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant will be hosting her annual Summer Speaker Series to provide support for teens and recent high school graduates as they transition to their post-secondary education life.
The two remaining events will include a self-defense class and a session called “Freshman Year 101,” according to a news release.
The self-defense class will take place at 6:30 p.m. July 9. “Freshman Year 101” will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8. Both events will take place at the Joliet Public Library branch, located at 3395 West Black Road in Joliet.

“As our teens and high school graduates head to college, it is imperative that they know how to stay safe,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “This information series will help equip young adults with the tools to promote safe practices.”
