U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is sounding the alarm about flooding, climate change, America’s trade wars… and TV weatherman Joe Crain.

During a Springfield news conference called to discuss the current flooding crisis in Illinois and the plight of farmers dealing with the effects of both flood waters and tariffs, Durbin also took time to declare, quote, “I’m on Joe Crain’s side.” Durbin says Crain was correct to speak out about the “Code Red” warnings used by Channel 20 at the direction of the station’s corporate owners, Sinclair Broadcasting.

Crain has been off the air since making his on-air remarks last week and his future with the station remains in doubt. Meanwhile, the blowback continues from Crain’s disappearance from the local airwaves. Amid a loud public outcry over the move, several local businesses have gone public to say they have pulled their advertising from the station.

Henson Robinson Company, Central Illinois Ace Hardware are among the companies dropping their ads, at least temporarily.
