Gov. Pritzker was in Belleville Wednesday to sign an executive order about workforce training.
“We’re going to make sure that we get the most bank out of our buck with our workforce development dollars,” Pritzker said at Southwestern Illinois Community College in Belleville. “This executive order will focus on investments on prov en workforce development programs in jobs in industries that are on the rise. It will invest in the students, whether they are just coming out of high school or are mid-career adults.”
The order is for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to demonstrate how workforce training dollars are tied to targeted growth industries and help the disenfranchised.
Rick Stubblefield is coordinator of St Clair County’s Workforce Development Group and says Pritzker “understands the challenges and opportunities facing the business community and the needs of the workers who drive our economy. His executive action shows his commitment to building the workforce of tomorrow and revving up our state’s economic engine. Under Gov. Pritzker, the state will finally look ahead to invest in growth industries and maximize job creation.”
