President Barack Obama will come to University of Chicago this month to tape a live podcast to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his historic election.
The president will join his former advisor and political strategist David Axelrod for a Nov. 20 episode of “The Axe Files.” The show is produced by the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, which Axelrod directs, and is co-sponsored by CNN.
The show will be taped from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at U. of C’s campus in Hyde Park.
Tickets are free and will be made available only to U. of C. students on a first-come, first-serve basis through Eventbrite starting at noon Friday. No media will be allowed. The episode will be posted on the podcast website.
U. of C. officials said the pair will also reminisce about their experiences on the campaign trail and discuss the president’s current projects, including his foundation. Axelrod served as Obama’s chief strategist for both presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012.
Axelrod has been taping his podcast since 2015 and has recorded nearly 300 episodes. Previous guests have included Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Mitt Romney, Nancy Pelosi and the writer Ta-Nehisi Coates.
