BELLEVILLE — A Centreville man running for state representative in the 114th House District will be allowed to be on the fall ballot.

Jason Madlock, who filed to run against state Rep. LaToya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, has paid a fine he owed to the State Board of Elections for not filing timely quarterly financial reports for his campaign committee.

The State Board of Elections decided to reduce Madlock’s fine from $2,700 to $550, which he paid on Friday.

Madlock asked his fine be reduced to $550, because he was a new candidate who didn’t raise any money, according to State Board of Elections documents.

Earlier this year Madlock shut down his campaign committee to eliminate the need for filing financial disclosure reports. Candidates must have a formal committee once they raise more than $5,000 in a 12-month period.

The 114th state House District covers East St. Louis and parts of Shiloh and O’Fallon, among other communities in eastern and southern St. Clair County.
