For state workers who are still owed back pay from several years ago… the check is in the mail. Comptroller Susana Mendoza says most of the money that had been tied up for years, because of the lack of a formal appropriation, has now gone out.

The budget approved by lawmakers this year included funding to pay that money, which was included as part of the state’s contract with AFSCME years ago. Mendoza says all state workers who are owed back pay should have it by September 1st .
