From the State Capitol: We talk with Rep Fred Crespo (D), talks with us about the House Democrats proposed FY 2018 Budget. He gives us details of the effort to craft the budget, and his thoughts on our tax system, and whether it needs changing. Shortly after this interview, Speaker Madigan and Repu Greg Harris, unveiled the details of their Budget proposal, that calls for $36.485 Billion in spending — less than the Governor’s budget or Senate Democrats. It also calls for raising the income tax to 4.95%, and putting a four-year freeze on property taxes, with some exemptions.
