DIXON – As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Dixon prison remained on full lockdown.
The lockdown was instituted at noon Tuesday. The incident that prompted the security measure remains under investigation; in the meantime, no visitors are allowed.
The Illinois Department of Corrections won’t comment or release any details until the investigation is over, except that the incident involved “several” inmates, and “the community was never at risk,” IDOC spokeswoman Nicole J. Wilson said in an email.
The status of the lockdown is available at http://ift.tt/1URxM6h. IDOC also has a hotline, 877-840-3220, that provides limited information on facilities that are on lockdown.
